Our Approach: Our classes are designed to be 95% hands-on experience, emphasizing practical learning over theoretical concepts. Each aspect of timber framing is discussed and demonstrated by our expert instructors, followed by opportunities for every student to perform and practice each function with personalized feedback and suggestions.

Tool Mastery: Starting with hand tools like framing squares, chisels, and boring machines, our classes progress to introduce power tooling from brands like Makita and Mafel. This approach ensures that students experience a broad range of tooling options, empowering them to decide the right mix of tools for their unique situations.

Innovative Layout System: Experience the patented Star Hill Layout System in action, featuring tools currently in production and those in the Prototype and R&D stage. We provide access to cutting-edge layout tools that set the industry standard.

5 Day Class Schedule:

• Day 1-3: Timber Layout & Cutting

  • Comprehensive instruction on timber layout and cutting techniques.

• Day 4: Knee Brace Layout/Cutting

  • Focus on the intricacies of knee brace layout and cutting.

• Day 5: Fit Frame/Raise Frame

  • Practical application as you fit and raise your frame under expert guidance.

2 1/2 Day Class Schedule (Sawhorse):

• Day 1: Timber Layout & Cutting

  • Comprehensive instruction on timber layout and cutting techniques.

• Day 2-3: Cut, Fit, and assemble (Note: sawhorses can be disassembled to transport them home)
